But the poems were not about math at all! They were about ambiguity. Such is the case with poetry--once you write it down, the interpretation is out of your control. Sort of like applied mathematics.<-)
ReplyDeleteI call them ‘mathematics poems’ because that is a category I use to delineated techniques in mathematical poetry. In my terminology section, I classify different kinds of structure and techniques. I am not trying to say I am THE authority on classifying mathematical poems however, I do not know of anyone else who is making an attempt. By my calling your poems ‘mathematics poems’ I am not addressing the meaning of your poems however, I am calling attention to the fact that you use mathematical imagery. The meaning is always left up to the reader in all poetry. Furthermore, I will mention again that I did enjoy the vector imagery in the poems as well as the use of homophones.
