I have to admit that the philosophy expressed here seems out of touch. But the context is almost 100 years ago - the art world was becoming very confused at that time and has been suffering the nightmare of a lost identity evert since -- and unfortunately it has not awaked yet.
Hi Karl, I find much of the Suprematists text to be rather cumbersome especially dealing with the concept of emptiness and using geometry (a mental construct) to point at such. The Zen texts are much more cogent at providing a understanding of emptiness. Thanks
remember, japan was unfriendly territory for russia. futurists looked south to india in part. also zen unknown or hardly known or understood in west until later. ernest fenollosa and ezra pound helped open the door to chinese poetry late teens. tho with a misinformed understanding of the ideogram.

they were not zen trained. they delved into metaphysics, esp Peter D. Ouspensky & other sources of mysticism and shamanism.
first zen trained and eternal dharma trained visual poet i know is paul reps.
