The Delusions of Control

Afghanistan has a horrible history of not only bands of marauders trying to control this land but, empires trying to control it as well. The piece was inspired by an Afghanistan general who said that his country is the graveyard of empires. Even today it is in political turmoil with militants trying to seize control of this vast mountainous area.  This is a proportional poem that addresses the imperial struggles of control and the futility of such a quest.
In the vernacular, the poem can be read many ways including the following: "The value of Afghanistan is to the value of Hope as the value of The Graveyard is to the value of an Empire. Or the Value of Afghanistan is to the value of a graveyard as the value of hope is to the value of an Empire.

The Pedagogy of Moonlight

Here is a new 'proportional poem' titled "The Pedagogy of Moonlight" - the image is a photo shot in the very early morning moon light at an old abandoned schoolhouse in the Cedar Swamp area along the west bank of the Delaware river a few miles east of Townsend Delaware along route 9. (see if you can find it on Google street maps) There is a thunderstorm off in the distance and a breeze evident in the clouds. The muses whisper this mathematical poem to me and demand me to share it with you.
There are four ways to solve this equation with each variable or you can set it up in proportions where it will read:

"Pining the Infinite" is to "Lost Mathematics" as "The Wind of Time" is to "Obscure Sorrow"
--OR--
"Pining the Infinite" is to "The Wind of Time" as "Lost Mathematics" is to "Obscure Sorrow"

Below is a detail of the equation:

Time

Here is a new proportional poem that struck me while pondering time. In the vernacular it says Time is to Music as a Rollercoaster is to Space. OR Time is to a Rollercoaster as Music is to Space.  Yet I have to say I really like the sound of it just as it is on this screen. Time equals a Rollercoaster times Music all divided by Space.

Singularity at Vulture Peak

This Similar Triangles Poem titled "Singularity at Vulture Peak"is a refinement from an earlier piece and is much more direct with what I want to express.  -Kaz

One vernacular translation for this mathematical expression is, "Enigma is to a flower dream as the truth is to the experience of a flower."

One may want to Google "Vulture Peak" to see what many say is the first transmission Zen from the Buddha.

Hwadu

Here is an 'Similar Triangles Poem" by Kaz Maslanka titled "Hwadu" --- in the vernacular it says that "Enigmas are to Ontology as The Song of Ancient Dreams are to the Sound of the Ocean" - Or a different syntax would be, "Enigmas are to the Song of Ancient Dreams as Ontology is to the Sound of the Ocean."

I find that you can switch Hope and Empire and get different results that still provide something interesting

Venerate Your Experience

Here is a new twist on one of my older proportional poems based on the the statement form is to emptiness as emptiness is to form. This is an example of solving the equation for "1"
